About the Role The Institut für Kunststoffverarbeitung (IKV) in Aachen is seeking an IT Administrator to join its dynamic team. As a key member of the IT team, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the institute's IT infrastructure, providing technical support, and contributing to various projects. Key Responsibilities • Manage and maintain the network infrastructure, including DHCP and MAC management, cabling, and basic network infrastructure • Install, configure, and maintain workstation computers, including rollout, updates, error analysis, and lifecycle management • Install, operate, and maintain the server infrastructure, including Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, file servers, databases, and virtualization environments with various services • Provide consulting services to departments and plan and execute procurement of hardware, software, licenses, and peripherals • Implement individual IT projects with varying focuses, from optimizing operations to introducing new services Requirements • Completed training or studies in the IT field (e.g., system integration) or equivalent qualification • Practical experience in administering and operating Windows-based infrastructures and ideally Linux-based systems, as well as virtualization • Basic understanding of networks, including addressing, DHCP, switching, and cabling, as well as structured troubleshooting • Self-reliant and service-oriented work style, with a willingness to take on diverse tasks in a research-oriented environment • Good German and English language skills are an advantage Nice to Have • Experience with Linux-based systems and virtualization Benefits • Diverse tasks with creative freedom and direct impact on the institute • A collegial team and an environment with high technical diversity • Prospects in a renowned research institution in Aachen • Structured training and the opportunity to drive own projects and improvements
